The Kathmandu Valley (Nepali: काठमाडौंउपत्यका), historically known as Nepal Valley or Nepal Valley is the Capital city of Nepal, that lies at the crossroads of ancient civilizations of the Indian subcontinent and the broader Asian continent, and has a lot of important monuments, including several pilgrimage sites for Hindus and Buddhists. Within the Valley, there are seven World Heritage Sites, which is the reason that attracts tourists from all over the world.
As Kathmandu is the capital city it is the most developed and populated place in Nepal. Bulks of offices and headquarters are located within the valley, making it the economic hub of Nepal. Lots of tourists are attracted here due to the unique architecture, rich cultures, and several jatras (street festivals done by Newars).
This valley includes a UNESCO World Heritage Site with seven conserved locations: the centers of the three primary cities, Kathmandu Hanuman Dhoka, Patan Durbar Square, and Bhaktapur Durbar square, the most important Buddhist stupas, Swoyambhunath and Bouddhanath and two famous Hindu shrines, Pashupatinath Temple and Changu Narayan.
Besides these all Heritage and religious Places we only can cover 5/6 in full day sight seen but if you want to explore the whole places we also can add extra days as per your requirement. The places that we will visit in full-day sight-seeing are Pashupatinath Temple, Hanuman Dhoka, Swoyambhunath stupa, Bouddhanath stupa, Patan Durbar square/ Budhanilkantha temple.

Pashupatinath temple is one of the most popular and was listed as UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) world heritage site in 1979, it is located on the bank of Bagmati River. It is Nepal’s most sacred Hindu shrine and one of the most magnificent Shiva sites, and a collection of temples. Only Hindu religious people can enter the temple. The main temple is built in Pagoda style if the architect and the two-level roofs are made up of copper coated with gold. It has 4 main doors covered with silver sheets and consists of a gold pinnacle (Gajur) at the top.
Bouddhanath is one the most important pilgrimage site in the world it is located in the east of Kathmandu. The stupa’s massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and one of the largest stupas in the world. Bouddhanath stupa is a holy site for the Buddhist faith. The atmosphere of the whole place lightens up with zest as a fragrance of incense drifts through the air. As well known Buddhist pilgrimage site, this stupa is listed in the world heritage cultural site in 1979.
Budhanikantha means “old blue throat” and is a Hindu open-air temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is situated below Shivpuri hill at the northern end of Kathmandu valley. Lord Vishnu is about five-meter (seventeen fits) long; lying in a thirteen-meter (forty – three fits) long tank as if floating with his legs. His four hands also hold the hand four symbol of Vishnu, the shankha is a conch shell.
Swayambhunath is among one of the last word experiences of Kathmandu valley. It is located northwest of the Kathmandu valley. Famously referred to as the monkey temple, this tourist destination receives pilgrims and tourists from every nook and corner of the planet. Monkey temple is pretty obvious as soon as you arrive the monkeys are everywhere. It is the foremost ancient and enigmatic of all the holy shrines in Kathmandu valley.
The heritage site by UNESCO Kathmandu durbar square (Hanuman Dhoka) is a cluster of ancient, temple palaces as well as courtyards and streets that date back to the 12th and 18th centuries. An Old palace also lies within the heart of Kathmandu city. It reflects the history and culture of Nepal and its people. The Kathmandu durbar square holds the palaces of the Malla and Shah kings who ruled over the town. It’s the social, religious, and concrete focus of Kathmandu city.
